A collaboration between West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, Paul Robeson House, Museum and United in Music, INC., in conjunction with University of Pennsylvania’s Netter Center for Community Partnership.


Paul Robeson: 20th Century Renaissance Man, Entertainer, & Activist, Screening and Panel Discussion

Robeson’s many achievements are chronicled in this documentary, ranging from playing on the Rutgers football team to graduation Columbia Law School, performing on Broadway and in Hollywood films to his social activism and blacklisting during the McCarthy era. Following the short film, there will be a panel discussion with the Director of the Paul Robeson House and a Robeson family historian. Birthday cake and light refreshments will be served!

A celebration of the Arts in Honor of Paul Robeson Performances co-created by students from Sayre High School, University of PA and other professional guests. Songs made world famous by Paul Robeson and monologues taken from his personal story Here I Stand will be included.
